Who wants Greasy Lips?

Back when I had a "proper" job, business meetings bored me at best, free biscuits and coffee off set the trauma slightly but generally I would have been happy never to be involved.
These days it is fair to say my opinion has changed, they now often involve croissants and revolve around planning gigs and booking bands.... a step up I am sure you would agree.

Today was no different (minus the croissant though - sorry guys) and the whole thing centered around the upcoming Alan McGee "Greasy Lips" event being held at the Soul Cellar on the 21st May.
This is an amazing event to be a part of, it also reminds me just how rich the South Coast is in talented bands and artists as we all sat round discussing our favourite local acts and each of us had a different opinion and personal preferences.

The full details of the night and the "heats" being held to find all the acts to be submitted for Mr. McGee's approval will be announced soon, you can keep up to date by joining the Facebook Group but I can reveal the launch night for the heats will take place on Wednesday 3rd March....
Each round will comprise 6 acts, 2 from each night will get put forward and stand the chance of making it to the big night and performing in front of the man himself!

With all the excitement about this I had nearly forgotten the first Angry Badger show of the year is taking place this Friday at the Cellars in Eastney..... Featuring Timshel, Gideons Demise, In Darklight and then a headline slot from Moody Tuesday this is set to be a fantastic start to a VERY busy few months!!

Until next time.......

Welcome to the first Angry Badger blog!
Good times ahead for all at ABR, having booked up a number of shows for the first half of the year we are also excited with some of the support slots we have arranged too!
First up is Moody Tuesday supporting the one and only Bez! The former Happy Mondays, Black Grape and Celebrity Big Brother winner is taking his new band Domino Bones on the road, taking in the Soul Cellar in Southampton!
Bez has promised to hang around after the gig as well to mingle with the crowd!!
As well as this we have just sorted a support for In Darklight with the living legend that is Peter Hook! Once more this takes place at the Soul Cellar (19th March) and the New Order/Joy Division man will be performing DJ set!
As a MASSIVE New Order fan this is a big thrill for me and I know the In Darklight boys are looking foward to it too.

As if this wasn't enough we are just in the process of organising "Badger Fest", an all-dayer at The Hobbit that will start early afternoon and go right through to 1am.
Dates are being sorted as we speak and hopefully we will be able to announce them soon...
Among the names already confirmed to play are The Visitors, Timshel, Moody Tuesday, Kodiak Jack, Sunset Mission, Nick Tann and In Darklight..... more to be added soon!!
Should be a fantastic event and we will start the afternoon with some acoustic performances before building up to a full electric setup as the evening draws in!
I may well take this opportunity to review a few of the countless demos and tracks we get sent, if you want to submit yours for possible review in the future then let me know........
Catch you later
